Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene

Summer_of_My_German_SoldierTaking place during World War II, the novel Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene, shows the relationship between a Jewish girl and a German soldier. It follows the adventures of a twelve year old girl, Patty, her abusive father, and her maid. As many of the Nazi prisoners escape from the prisoner’s camp, many were found except for Anton. As Patty provides Anton food and shelter, she does not realize what danger she could have just put herself in. That summer was a summer she would never forget.

The novel is full of drama and excitement, yet it touches your heart. I would definitely recommend the book to any person. It teaches and shows many values, including the true meaning of friendship.
